LMPD hopes you can identify suspects...

email from Jeff Artman, LMPD:
Here is some info to pass along to residents. We need some help identifying suspects. Thanks Happy Holidays

Officer Jeff Artman/564
LMPD 5th Division
574-7636

Hey guys here is some information you can pass on to the residents at any upcoming meetings you may be attending. I have a report of hubcaps being stolen from a vehicle over off 200 Block of S Hite. The victim saw a white male parked next to her vehicle and he had hubcaps to her vehicle in his arms. Initially she didn’t realize he had taken them from her car. She noticed that there were two bikes in the back his truck as well (probably stolen). He is a white male about 20 to 30 years of age, about 5-10 to 6’ tall with an average build. He is also clean-shaven. That is all that she could see or recall about him. The truck he was driving is a black regular cab pickup. She doesn’t know the make or model, but added that it was well kept and had shiny black paint and was not junk truck. Thanks...

Congratulations, Hillcrest!

Message from vice-president Kathy Schmitt
Congratulations!
We raised $585.00 for the police patrol on Halloween. As promised, all money collected over the $400 needed to pay for the police, will be applied to 2009 Police Patrol.

So we have $185.00 to apply to next year. It will be turned over to Brian Butler - CHCC treasurer tonight (also a Hillcrest Avenue resident) and deposited into a Crescent Hill account.

Many thanks also to those of you who donated a barricade, cones and parking spots to the police on Halloween night.

Thanks to our Hillcrest Avenue artist, Kathleen Ritter, who creatively painted the Ghoul Garbage boxes. Hopefully, it encouraged more use of them. Her husband Bill collected the garbage boxes and will store them for next year.

Thanks also to several members of Grace Church Louisville on Crescent Avenue. Evidently they were out on Saturday morning cleaning up. Thank you if you organized that.

Thanks to our Louisville Metro Police Officers: Dean Sturgeon Steve Green Eric McHugh Keith Barnett

If you have any concerns, unusual events on Halloween, got great pictures, etc., please forward them to me. I would like to write an article in the Crescent Hill newsletter about your extreme generosity. You are also welcome to write an article. I can send you the e-mail address.Personally, I didn't feel like Halloween was as crazy as it could have been. We had candy left over. All-in-all a relatively quiet night and thankfully an early one too.

Kathy's email is vp2@crescenthill.us

Note from Pat Brinson----thanks, Kathy, for organizing the fund-raising and thanks to all the neighbors who contributed to making your event so safe!

Bunbury Theater

Congratulations to Crescent Hillian Matt Orme and Bunbury Theatre on a great production of BEAU JEST!

There's still time to reserve tickets for the show this coming week. http://www.bunburytheatre.org/

BEAU JEST info: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=df8nbmjb_42rdxmh6ft

Personal Note: Jerry and I were thrilled with the production and were excited to see so much involvement from Crescent Hill:

  • Matt Orme is the director of BEAU JEST
  • Sponsors include some Crescent Hill Favorites: Heine Brothers Coffee, Crescent Hill Trading Company and Ballou's Rentals

You probably already noted that Heine Brothers and Crescent Hill Trading Company are on our CHCC Discount card.

You may also dine at Road to Morocco before or after the show; the restaurant is in the same building as Bunbury. There's also free parking across the street from the theatre.

Cyclocross coming to our area

We're less than two weeks away from the Papa John's Derby City Cup the first stop for the United States Gran Prix of Cyclocross.

The races are on October 25 and 26.

This is a very fun event. And it is definitely NOT just for avid cyclists. Cross is fun to watch for anyone.

The Derby City Cup is held at the old River Road Country Club, which is at the corner of River Road and Zorn. There will be food, drink (including beer), an expo area, and great cyclocross racing. This event draws the best cross racers in the US plus international racers too.

And it all takes place in a very nice park setting during the best weather that Louisville has to offer--cross fingers.

For those of you who've never seen a cross race check this link. It's from the 2007 Derby City Cup.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpc3lyOS-fQ

The race schedule is here.

http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?EventID=7117

Come watch. Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring a co-worker. Bring a noisemaker--cowbells, air-horns, drums all work great. Crowd participation is a big part of cross.

Also feel free to pass this email along to your office or other egroups.

Monday November 10th @7pm as the preliminary date and time for the first "Ever Green" meeting. Hopefully this does not conflict with anything else. Check out Matt's site where he has listed the meeting: http://www.earthenirvana.com/menu.html

Going to an Art Fair?

If you go to the St. James Art Fair, the CHCC Arts & Crafts Team members (for the 4th and 5th of July) are requesting your assistance in helping us line up the best artists for the 2009 Crescent Hill Art Fair, a part of the Old-fashioned 4th of July:

1. When you see an artist you like, ask if the artist is coming to the Crescent Hill Old-Fashioned 4th of July, which will be two days this year. (That helps get the word out.)

2. Pick up a card of any artists you think would be good match for our art fair and then call me, Pat Brinson, at 895-2754 or email me at pbrinson@insightbb.com and I'll arrange to get the cards from you.

Actually, we'd appreciate the above help for any art fairs you attend.
---
If you want to join our Arts and Crafts team, email or call me. Our next meeting is Monday evening, Oct. 6.

Thanks!

First Capital Bank is Sponsoring the FIREWORKS!
