LMPD Note --don't leave items in vehicle

Memo shared by Clifton leaders:

We have had an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles in and around Clifton. If you have an opportunity, alert your citizens of this trend, and advise them to not leave items in their vehicles. Thanks

Officer Jeff Artman/564
LMPD 5th Division

We thank Michael O'Leery, Clifton Co-chair, for sharing this information.
What affects Clifton often affects us----and we shop in Clifton as well.

Bunbury Theater

Congratulations to Crescent Hillian Matt Orme and Bunbury Theatre on a great production of BEAU JEST!

There's still time to reserve tickets for the show this coming week. http://www.bunburytheatre.org/

BEAU JEST info: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=df8nbmjb_42rdxmh6ft

Personal Note: Jerry and I were thrilled with the production and were excited to see so much involvement from Crescent Hill:

  • Matt Orme is the director of BEAU JEST
  • Sponsors include some Crescent Hill Favorites: Heine Brothers Coffee, Crescent Hill Trading Company and Ballou's Rentals

You probably already noted that Heine Brothers and Crescent Hill Trading Company are on our CHCC Discount card.

You may also dine at Road to Morocco before or after the show; the restaurant is in the same building as Bunbury. There's also free parking across the street from the theatre.

Cyclocross coming to our area

We're less than two weeks away from the Papa John's Derby City Cup the first stop for the United States Gran Prix of Cyclocross.

The races are on October 25 and 26.

This is a very fun event. And it is definitely NOT just for avid cyclists. Cross is fun to watch for anyone.

The Derby City Cup is held at the old River Road Country Club, which is at the corner of River Road and Zorn. There will be food, drink (including beer), an expo area, and great cyclocross racing. This event draws the best cross racers in the US plus international racers too.

And it all takes place in a very nice park setting during the best weather that Louisville has to offer--cross fingers.

For those of you who've never seen a cross race check this link. It's from the 2007 Derby City Cup.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpc3lyOS-fQ

The race schedule is here.

http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?EventID=7117

Come watch. Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring a co-worker. Bring a noisemaker--cowbells, air-horns, drums all work great. Crowd participation is a big part of cross.

Also feel free to pass this email along to your office or other egroups.

Help start a Go Green, Crescent Hill group--Mon., Nov. 10

There are many people in Crescent Hill who are interested in beginning a Go Green Group; however, until now we haven't had anyone with the time to lead such a group.

NOW, WE HAVE FOUND A LEADER for the GO GREEN, CRESCENT HILL GROUP!

Yes, Matt Martin is volunteering to lead such a group. Please mark your calendars for Monday, Nov. 10th at 7:00 p.m.

The group will meet at Matt's new business, Earthenirvana, on New Main Street----just across the RR track on Frankfort Ave. (next to the Bike Shop and across from Cunningham's Overhead Door).

Monday November 10th @7pm as the preliminary date and time for the first "Ever Green" meeting. Hopefully this does not conflict with anything else. Check out Matt's site where he has listed the meeting: http://www.earthenirvana.com/menu.html

Welcome, Matt!

Going to an Art Fair?

If you go to the St. James Art Fair, the CHCC Arts & Crafts Team members (for the 4th and 5th of July) are requesting your assistance in helping us line up the best artists for the 2009 Crescent Hill Art Fair, a part of the Old-fashioned 4th of July:

1. When you see an artist you like, ask if the artist is coming to the Crescent Hill Old-Fashioned 4th of July, which will be two days this year. (That helps get the word out.)

2. Pick up a card of any artists you think would be good match for our art fair and then call me, Pat Brinson, at 895-2754 or email me at pbrinson@insightbb.com and I'll arrange to get the cards from you.

Actually, we'd appreciate the above help for any art fairs you attend.
---
If you want to join our Arts and Crafts team, email or call me. Our next meeting is Monday evening, Oct. 6.

Thanks!

First Capital Bank is Sponsoring the FIREWORKS!

First Capital Bank of Kentucky is again sponsoring the Zambelli Internationale FIREWORKS. This is the third consecutive year the Bank has sponsored the fireworks and it's very notable since the cost of the fireworks has increased significantly. Thanks, First Capital Bank of Kentucky, where everyone learns your name!

Manager Tommy Thomas sent me an email listing the current rates---I understand these rates are the best in the area. Check out that information in the link below:
